European Day in St. Tola's, 9th May 2012

St. Tola's have been very busy indeed over the last few months preparing projects, displays, artwork and much much more for our Blue Star Programme culminating in European Day on May 9th. The Blue Star Programme aims to foster better understanding and knowledge of the European Union and how it affects our lives amongst Irish primary pupils through classroom projects and activities. This was done by examining four key areas relating to the EU - historical, geographical, cultural and creative and institutional factors.
On Wednesday, May 9th St. Tola's celebrated European Day together. Every class visited each other and presented their work to fellow students. Classes learned all about their chosen countries and sampled some traditional food, traditional dress and traditional dance. The selection of photos attached gives a flavour of the events of the day. Welcome to St. Tola’s National School's Website!
We are a primary school located in the town of Shannon. The school was founded in 1978. It is a co-educational Catholic school under the patronage of the Bishop of Killaloe. We cater for boys and girls from Junior Infants to Sixth class. We currently have over 240 children enrolled in our school. We have 14 teachers based in our school and 3 Special Needs Assistants.
St. Tola’s offers a wide and varied curriculum in accordance with the Irish Primary School Curriculum. The subjects taught at all class levels include English, Maths, Gaeilge ( Irish) , SESE ( History, Geography and Science) Music, Drama, Visual Arts, Physical Education and S.P.H.E ( Social Personal Health Education). To complement this curriculum there are a wide range of extra-curricular activities offered to pupils which include football, hurling, basketball, soccer, camogie, choir and Rainbows.
At St. Tola’s , in partnership with parents, we strive to create a positive school environment where every pupil can learn and grow to the best of their ability.
